Exactly. I e-mailed that to Secretly Canadian. Maybe if all of the folks on the MECo website were to do the same they might consider doing something of this nature. I don't know what legal road blocks might stand in the way consideriing that there would be several different record labels involved (some of which are defunct now). I have Jason enitre catalog, but I have almost none of these tracks, except for the "It Made Me Cry" tracks.
As far as the entirity of the list, I compiled it from the "Discography" section on the site. If I have missed something please do post it. I didn't include a couple of thing like the "Hecla & Griper" EP and a few other things because they are fairly available on CD.

E-mail THAT to Secretly Canadian. As far as I know, that's everything that has received some sort of official release. It'd be a hell of a set! Of course, it would never see the light of day in this format except as a fan-made compilation. For one thing, what would you call it? The Big 'Ol Box Of Molina? It's got solo stuff, Songs: Ohia stuff and Magnolia Electric Co. stuff on it. Still, there's plenty to pick from for an official comp. And an official comp would be a great excuse to release any of these to make it even MORE worthwhile (and because official comps tend to have exclusive tracks):
-- the "lost" In The Fishtank session for Konkurrent -- the exclusive studio mixes from the Making Of Josephine -- the (2? 3? 4?) unreleased Josephine session tracks -- the tracks submitted for the Wood Diary film -- any radio sessions such as the "Daytrotter" session listed above or the "No Love For Ned" session (hell, a Radio Sessions comp would be great on its own!) -- the music for the Graveface Will Schaff book (unless it's still coming out) -- anything else Jason thought might be worthy that he may have lying around (if he didn't burn it all, that is!)
But then there's this quite from Jason when asked about the Sojourner release by Pop Matters:
"I did it because I really, really didn’t want to have to go back and listen to and sequence all the old songs—it would take so much time and energy."
And I can't find it now but I thought there was a reference somewhere to Secretly Canadian wanting to do this sort of comp but Jason not being interested in it (above and beyond the Pop Matters quote)...
Anyway, it sure would be a great way to get all this music heard by the fans. I've tried hunting all this stuff down for about the past six years. Check my sig to see what I haven't been able to find/afford in that time. It ain't easy -- or cheap! Case in point: the Comes With A Smile CD just went for about $100 on eBay! Now how about if a 6-disc official box set cost that much? Would you buy it?...
Peace.

The response I received to my initial list from Secretly Canadian:
Hey ElRoi
Can you give me more information on this?
It looks great to me
jc
To me this sounds promising. At least a little bit. So, it is my belief that if we could get a couple of hundred other devoted Molina fans to e-mail SC about the possibility of such a project, who knows what might happen.

@LunarTunes: William Schaff previewed a sample picture on his facebook page from the Graveface book that he had just received from them
Do you know if this is the same version as the one that accompanied the book "Isn't It Romantic:100 Love Poems By Younger American Poets"? The version from the book seems to be JMo solo on acoustic guitar.

Ok, I should have done this before my earlier post(s) but here is the response that I received today from the nice folks at graveface:
Thanks for your interest!!
We're on our second graphic designer and things seem to be going well thus far. They've got it about half-way done I'd say so hopefully this year sometime. I shall not say for sure though as this has been very hard getting everything together in perfect harmony. I will say though, the book is looking incredible and the Molina 10 inch is amazing.

I own all of this stuff. What I'm wondering is if anyone has a solid list of all of the unreleased songs that are available in FLAC-only (also, the "best" recording of each). I tried to do it a few years ago, but I just couldn't get through it all. Downloading 5-10 versions of a bunch of songs and comparing them just wore me down, so I'm hoping someone else actually completed a similar project. I don't usually bother with mp3s, so I guess a few of the songs may be eliminated by that, but the majority of tapers and traders deal in FLAC/SHN, anyway.
Anyone?

^I made just such a list for myself, intending to make a nice comp to share here. However, like you, I never got around to the comparing stage. So all I have is a list of songs, performances and whether the recording is SBD, AUD or a MATRIX. I do intend to finish the project one day but it'll take a fair bit of work -- it's around 45 songs! But, being far from an expert, I don't know if some of them got released under different titles. And some of them are just jams. I made my list based on setlists from the shows I have and etree. Funny thing is, this thread got me thinking about finishing the project...
Peace.

The tough part for any label or artist trying to cobble together a set of compilation tracks, 7", and other odds and ends: Making sure you have the masters. I'm sure that won't be much of a problem for SC but what about the early singles or other random tracks he recorded?

Something that is sort of missing from your list, LunarTunes, is Pyrate II (Even Now) that was released as a free mp3 from Insound back in 2000 or so. I don't include this in mine because a) the source file is a 160 kbps mp3. As much as I hate iTunes/eMusic and their crappy lossy files, at least they are at a decent bit rate. And b) it sounds like there is something wrong with the file.
Am I totally crazy or is there something wrong? What is that incessant clicking throughout the song? It sounds like some kind of digital glitch. Also, the volume drops at 0:29 and changes again later on. I absolutely love the song and it sucks that this is the only version to be "released".
I'd be curious to see your list of the unreleased songs.

^I just posted my list as a new thread. Any help fixing or completing it would be greatly appreciated...
As for that mp3 you mention, I was unaware of it until now. I didn't start following Jason's musical path until 2003. So I missed out on that and haven't seen a reference to it anywhere. I'd love to hear it in all it's crappy bitrate, glitchy glory...
Peace.
EDIT: I just saw your thread from 2007 about this song. I'd somehow missed it! Interesting...
