Great moments at the end-of-tour show (Aug. 5, 2009, Dubuque, Iowa) last night.
Since it was also Mark Rice's last show behind the drums for some time, the band let him sing two songs, including "The Dark Don't Hide It," during which Molina goes back behind the drum set. He'd told me before the show that he can't play drums and things would be a glorious train wreck... and he did not disappoint :) Members of the Donkeys joined on stage for a Warren Zevon encore, which Mark also sang.
During the Donkeys set, some bad '80s jingles and, I believe, "patty cake" started coming through the stage monitors during their last song. Not sure how this transpired, but MECo members were seen milling around the soundboard about this time with big grins.
