Awesome! Thanks for the info.

I sincerely wish bands/labels would stop with the iTunes exclusive stuff. I'm not going to pay money for an mp3 file. It makes no sense. You're not getting anything tangible for your money. It doesn't add to you collection and, more importantly, it degrades the quality of the piece of art.

If they include iTunes exclusive tracks, I will steal them from elsewhere on the internet. Sigh.

The secretly presale thing is cool, and despite working at a record store and being able to get stuff at cost I will happily get it from themfor the advance download privledge. I don't really mind buying jason's albums twice anyways.

I also work in a record store and will order from them direct. Seems kinda crazy of them to offer an instant, early download. I guess promo copies will likely be sent out by then and it will be all over the internet, anyway.

I remember back around the releases of Magnolia Electric Co. and Pyramid Electric Co., ordering from SC directly would get you the album a few weeks ahead of time because they would ship them out well before street date. I ordered from them over ordering through my store then, as well.

As far as buying things twice goes, I really hope Boomkat gets the digital download of It's Made Me Cry, because it would likely be in FLAC and I would buy it twice for that.

the whole pre-order/immediate download thing was designed to reduce losses due to the eventual album leak. most of the promo copies will be going out right around then so the plan was to try and give folks who can't wait (you know, all of us!) the chance to buy it properly and get a legit download instead of the whole file-sharing deal.

according to my last communication w/ secretly canadian, the pre-order wasn't supposed to be announced until june 24th... guess the cat's a bit out of the bag with that though!

Jason gave me several flyers and asked me to put em out at my store, so I hope I'm not spreading classified info ;)

That's actually a really good idea. It's forward thinking like this that might have helped save the record industry 10 years ago. It's a bit flawed, though, in that it will only take one person to get their advance download to upload it to a torrent site.  It would be nice to think that Molina fans would keep their free advance downloads to themselves, but I can't see that being likely.

In the past, I've gotten SC promos pretty early, so they got leaked earlier. If they are holding off until around this time, it should be a little more effective.

Looking forward to June 25th!

Thanks for the info! I'm even more excited about this album now that I see "O! Grace" and "Whip-Poor-Will" on the tracklist...

Peace.

Does anyone know if "London Bridge", "Astrabel" or "Love Letter from the Ace of Spades" were renamed and will be on the album? I love those songs and was hoping they would be on!
Also, is Shiloh the same song as "Shiloh Temple Bell"?
Not complaining, I really can't wait for this to come out!

If the setlist from the show last night is accurate than "The Handing Down" is "Love Letter from the Ace of Spades".

Great great news !
I can't wait to listen it !
But there isn't any song with name "Destiny" or "Here comes the night" and I really like this song... Maybe in the next album ? "Whip-poor-will" comes from the first original meco demo cd that comes with the vinyl ! I really like the electric version of this song, same with the electric version of "Shiloh"... I'm really excited !
Thanks !

It was an unusual show, Jason Groth was absent (he'll be back, don't worry), so the sound was... Not quite as rocking as usual. Nice mix of new songs and not as new songs, no shocking oldies or anything.

I felt weird grabbing the setlist, but it just sat there, and I figure I'd give it a good home. In 8 years of seeing Molina shows it was the first one I'd ever seen.
